Ian Giammanco, PhD Interview: Dr. Ian Giammanco is the Senior Director for Standards & Data Analytics and a Lead Research Meteorologist at the IBHS Research Center in Richburg, South Carolina.

He has participated in numerous hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, and tornado research projects over his career.

-IBHS’s FORTIFIED Standard (and the science behind it): a designation program that narrows the impact of high wind events, like tornadoes, hurricanes, and severe thunderstorms, through small but meaningful changes in the structure of the roof or home.

-IBHS’s Wildfire Prepared Home Program (and the wildfire science behind it): the first-ever wildfire mitigation designation program. It launched in June 2022 in California and will expand beyond the parcel level and into new states.
