Is Today The Tomorrow You Were Dreading Yesterday?

Is Today The Tomorrow You Were Dreading Yesterday?

Is Today the Tomorrow you were Dreading Yesterday? Fair notice, this is my version of a quote by Dale Carnegie.

The Ukraine war is a clear example of how apathy in the west has emboldened a powerful, malicious world leader.

What is happening in Eastern Europe today is happening because we allowed it to happen. For decades, western leaders have demonstrated an apathetic response to despots and malevolent world leaders.

I gather news daily and this picture below brought me to tears. Why? Because I text my daughters and granddaughter every day to tell them I love them. I do not want to text them to learn if they are still alive and  OK!

How Are You? by Studio Serigraph
“I made this image in a bomb shelter in my old primary school. These days, we say in Ukraine that, ‘How are you?’ is a way to say, ‘I love you’. More than 500,000 people have become refugees. Families are separated, buses carrying women and children are being shelled. Checking that your loved ones are alive has become a morning ritual. I am afraid that if the war lasts longer, people will get used to it and switch to something else. Please don’t stop supporting Ukraine.” Instagram @studioserigraph

What does this mean for us here, now, today?

If we remain apathetic to the safety and welfare of our children, we will teach them apathy as a lifestyle. And our children will teach it to their children because that is what we, the parents, are teaching them to be.

Don’t play politician. Stop trying to be your child’s friend. Instead, do the right thing and prepare your children so you will not need to text them and ask if they are alive and OK.
