Tip of the Day 20190605 Should I stay or should I go?

There are a couple of simple facts about emergency action planning that people tend to forget until the time comes.

You will shelter in place; Weather out the storm or event. Un-button and come out to assess the damages and prepare the recovery.

Or

You will evacuate, because remaining is unsafe and you risk life and limb. Once the all-clear is sounded, you will return to assess the damage and prepare the recovery.Shelter in place families will need to plan for and practice the immediate evacuation depending on the circumstance of the event.

Just because you thought it would be nice to hang out and have a BBQ, does not mean it will.

The situation will be fluid and the circumstance may dictate a different plan of action requiring evacuation.

Plan for it.

Some families will need to plan for and practice the immediate evacuation depending on where they live.

I know this because I live in a mandatory evacuation area.

Staying behind can kill you. No one will come to your aid; you will be left alone.

I am going to play Captain Obvious here, even though I have never been a Captain.

The Camp Fire in Northern California last year killed 88 people.

There was limited entry and egress from the community because fire blocked most of the routes.

The deceased were found in cars, homes or next to burnt out vehicle.

It is better to go early and learn you didn’t need to.

Dont stay and wish you had gone.

And always emember your furry friends.

Till next time
