Mad Scientists Rule

I just could not help myself, really, I just wanted to know what would happen.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I know you’ve heard about the Microwaved water report.

You know which one I am talking about.

Some time around 2010 a report circulated on the internet about Microwaved water killing plants.

This report allegedly came from some High-School science experiment in Russia, Nebraska, Kalamazoo, who knows, who cares why bother.

I just wanted to know….

I donned my chemical stained lab coat, placed my glow in the dark goggles on my face pulled the rubber gloves firmly onto my hands and got to work.

I WILL DISCOVER IF THIS MYTH IS TRUE.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I stealthily secured three identical plants from the local Big Orange Box.

Preliminary inspection showed them to be in good health with no signs of insect infestation.

The individual plants were randomly identified as to what kind of water they will receive.

The water was sourced from the,,, KITCHEN TAP.

Water used for the Microwaved and Boiled water subjects was tap-water.

Double filtered through a faucet mounted PUR filter.

And filtered again through a Clearly Filtered water pitcher.

This mystical concoction is also known as my drinking water. Clearly better than bottled water.

The microwave water and boiled water were both brought to 180 degrees or higher and then set to cool overnight.

Let the experiment begin

Watering started on August 26th. Two thirds of a cup of water was the dose  given to each plant at each watering.

With subsequent watering on the August 31st .

And September 8th.

Note*** The location of the plants is in a Florida Sun Room with all the shades drawn to keep direct sunlight out, and windows open for ventilation. The ambient temperature can exceed 110 degrees F.

The plants appeared to be thriving well.

Now, they will be stressed by denying water to them.

When I came out to see them on September 20th, this was the result.

Certainly not what I expected.

I pondered the evidence before me.

Was the Microwaved water plant a monster.

Did it somehow suck the life away from the two adjoining plants like a Vampire draining the lifeblood of its victims?

Will we ever know the truth?

The Tap Water plant suffered the worst and was beyond help. The Boiled Water plant was also dying and would not recover though it was not as desiccated as the Tap water plant. .

To my amazement the Microwave Water plant showed no signs of distress.

My expectations was the Boiled Water plant would surely have survived better than the Microwaved water plant.

Drat, foiled again.

This was not the result I so dearly expected.

The Moral of the story:

When creating your Emergency Action Plan.

Let your inner Mad Scientist out to run free.

If you must fail, do so now, before you need to succeed.

Test your hypothesis.

Determine now what will, and will not work.

You might just have some fun in the process.

Till next time.
