Nine Mental Shifts for Highly Successful People

Everybody has an opinion of what it takes to succeed.

There are millions of people who would tell you what they think you need to do to be the success you think you want to be. And I am one of those people.

This list of mental shifts I present for your review is my list.

I review this list regularly to see where I might be succeeding or not and adjust as needed.

It is quite possible that you have an entirely different list than I do, or you don’t have a list of all.

“When we change the way we look at things the things we look at will change”

― Dr Wayne Dyer

Do Not Let Age Discourage You

Youth is a big asset, do not wait for the right day, month, or year. Move to the front of the pack and leave behind those that want you to stay with them, they are going nowhere and want your company. There are people who want you to succeed, you just don’t know it.

Seniority is a great asset. Been there done that. A little grey hair is a power-tool only a select few have. You already have accomplishments and expertise, use it to your advantage.

Invest in Yourself, Always Keep Improving

Sitting on your laurels is a quick way to becoming irrelevant. Read every day, listen to positive personal growth material. Surround yourself with mentors and peers who are much more successful than you and want you to succeed as much as you do. If you are alive you have one primary responsibility that is to keep learning and growing.

Make Your Decisions Fast

No matter how good you think you are, there will be a time when you hit a wall and find yourself where nothing is happening.

To prevent yourself from shifting down into the doldrums, schedule your days your weeks even your months.

Make it a habit to plan your work and work your plan.

Do not overthink what you are doing, excessive research will stick you in the mud and you will seize up because you are unsure of what direction to go. (Analysis Paralysis)

Trust your gut and follow it.

A good plan violently executed right now is far better than a perfect plan executed next week.

-General George S. Patton

Create Deep Focused Work

Deep focused work is the most important factor in your success. Just because your busy does not mean you’re being productive.

Eliminate all distractions when working and remain aware of where your focus is drifting to. At the end of your day review what you have accomplished and maintain vigilance on improving your daily self.

Aggressively Campaign

The simplest way to achieve your goals is to put your creations into motion.

To do this, you need to create a campaign to promote your material.

Reach out to your avatar, your preferred customer in as many ways you can. Everybody has a specific way they like to receive their material, find a way to get in front of them in their preferred format.

Be aggressive and persistent. And try not to be too annoying while you are you doing it.

Perfection Paralysis

Nothing is perfect.

The desire to create a perfect product, solution, service, or relationship has created more failures than anything.

Even if you do achieve a goal of perceived perfection, you will find something wrong with it, and you’re going to want to change it because it’s not perfect.

It is good to understand the concept of good enough is good enough. If it works, don’t fix it.

Get your project off the runway and into the air, while you’re flying you can look at it and see where you need to trim the course and make adjustments to improve your outcome.

Constant review is an ongoing process.

The Lone Wolf Dies Alone

A lone genius creating in seclusion is an image that many people love. The facts are you cannot be successful at anything without support.

Whatever you do, and whatever you define as success. Seek out and bring into your fold experts, successful peers, and supporters who would like to see your vision accomplished as much as you do.

Health

Take care of yourself first.

If you cannot protect yourself, you cannot protect anyone else.

Be careful not to burn yourself out; your health is everything.

You must devote time to relax and let your mental and physical powers recoup, exercise, meditate, eat well, get a massage, buy yourself a gift, reward yourself for your accomplishments.

Have Faith In What You Are Doing

If you do not believe in what you’re doing, the odds are excellent that it will never happen.

On the upside, you already have everything it takes to accomplish what you want. You just might not know it.

There is nothing between you and achieving your dreams except you.

Everyone who fails has an excuse for why they failed, and everyone who succeeds has simply found ways that it didn’t work.

Keep moving until you find the one that does
