Deciding to change the plan while in play can be the worst thing you ever did.

The disaster planning process requires redundancy options. If plan A does not work, go to plan B. This system of creating a backup plan ensures you can complete the course of action you started on.

But what happens when an unplanned change occurs during a disaster event? We are not talking about behavioral or organizational change. Instead, we are discussing operational change that deviated from a pre-planned procedure.

Changing the plan creates conflict, misunderstanding, stress, and additional risk.

You made a plan. Stick with it. During the practice phase, alterations to a plan should be reported to everyone involved.

There comes a time when you need to make an instant decision to change the plan.

Change for the sake of change is not always good.
